Each year FCRW donates one adult book and one youth book to each of the four public libraries in Fayette County: in Flatonia, Schulenburg, La Grange, and Round Top.

2016 adult book selections were:

Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates: The Forgotten War That Changed American History, By: Brian Kilmeade & Don Yaeger.

This is the little-known story of how a newly independent nation was challenged by four Muslim powers and what happened when America’s third president decided to stand up to intimidation.

Killing Reagan: The Violent Assault that Changed a Presidency
by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard

Killing Reagan reaches back to the golden days of Hollywood, where Reagan found both fame and heartbreak, up through the years in the California governor's mansion, and finally to the White House, where he presided over boom years and the fall of the Iron Curtain. But it was John Hinckley Jr.'s attack on him that precipitated President Reagan's most heroic actions. In Killing Reagan, O'Reilly and Dugard

take readers behind the scenes, creating an unforgettable portrait of a great man operating in violent times.

2016 youth book selections were:

Rush Revere and the Star Spangled Banner, by Rush Limbaugh and Kathryn Adams Limbaugh.  It’s the dawn of an important new day in America. Young readers, grab the reins and join rush revere, liberty the horse, and the whole time-traveling crew in this patriotic historical adventure that takes you on an exciting trip to the past to see our remarkable nation’s most iconic symbols up close and personal!

Arlington: Story of our Nation’s Cemetery
by Chris Demarest

AMERICA'S RESTING PLACE. The story of the national cemetery--from the Revolutionary War to the present. Arlington recounts the complicated history of one of the nation's most famous and most-visited national monuments and its fascinating daily life. Carefully researched and documented, Chris Demarest's watercolor paintings capture the spirit and pathos of the last resting place of more than 300,000 Americans who have served their country.

Thanks to our Literacy Chairperson, Barbara Appelt, for taking the time to review the many choices and making these great selections!
